The Porcelain Artists of WA (formerly the WA Guild of China Painters) held its annual exhibition and sale of work on the weekend of 6th and 7th May at the Palms Community Centre in Subiaco.
The Theme for 2023 was ‘Connections' with members invited to paint a collection of up to ten pieces to interpret the theme. A wide variety of subjects were represented, featuring both contemporary and traditional painting styles.
Several hundred pieces of hand painted porcelain and glass by PAWA members were on display from both metro and country members.
Congratulations to President Christine Munro and her team for a very successful event.
PAWA - BEST EXHIBIT AWARD
This year the Porcelain Artists of WA introduced a new award for the best collection in the Exhibition section. The inaugural winning award went to the collection 'Fantasy' by Irena Kopec. Photo shown below.
Collectors Corner Display
Visitors to the exhibition were treated to an innovative new display called ‘Collectors’ Corner’. The display featured porcelain pieces painted prior to 2015.
Many past as well as present members' work were represented. Notably a framed tile painted by PAWA's Foundation President Amy Lakides and a lidded porcelain box by much admired retired painter Brenda Henderson. These sought after pieces were sold very quickly.
Good crowds attended despite some inclement weather and the impending coronation of King Charles III. The general consensus of visitors was pleasure at the high level and variety of work on display .
Work displayed was from both Metro and Country members with a wide variety of both modern and traditional porcelain designs.
